  • Overview

    Western National is seeking a highly collaborative and engaging developer to assist our application development team in all aspects of the software development lifecycle: design, development, unit testing, and implementation of Guidewire Claim Center features and integrations.

    The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of Software Development experience with strong experience in Guidewire solutions and writing code in GOSU while working on an agile team. The candidate would ideally have experience with Guidewire integrations with leadership and communication experience in implementing new features and supporting the existing system to deliver an exceptional experience to our customers.


    • Work in an agile environment with other IT teams.
    • Collaborate with business partners to implement new features.
    • Estimate effort and assist in prioritization of business feature requests.
    • Identify and resolve software application issues.
    • Prepare technical design specifications, flow charts, and data flow diagrams.
    • Develop and execute unit tests.
    • Implement software solutions based on business requirements.
    • Identify and implement process enhancements and automation.
    • Regular interaction with business partners across organization.
    • Occasional interaction with external vendors.


    • B.S. Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
    • 3 years of software development experience.
    • Proficient experience in Guidewire Claim Center or other Guidewire Insurance Suite offerings.
    • Strong experience with GOSU programming; or similar (Groovy)
    • Moderate to strong experience writing SQL queries.
    • Moderate to strong experience monitoring Guidewire integrations.
    • Moderate to strong experience developing or consuming REST/Soap web services.
    • Experience with build tools such as Gradle or Maven.
    • Experience with version control (SVN or Git).
    • Experience with issue tracking software such as Jira or Rally.
    • Experience with Dev Ops and/or continuous integration (CI) tools (Jenkins) is useful.
    • Experience in an agile environment.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
