    Umialik Insurance Company, a member of the Western National Insurance Group, is pleased to announce an opportunity to join our Commercial Lines team as a Loss Control Consultant. This exciting opportunity is the perfect chance for someone who is interested in continuing to expand their career in the Insurance Industry with a Wards Top 50 company.


    The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of multi-line commercial loss control experience and progressing towards safety certifications or a masters degree in safety related field.


    • Complete loss control surveys and assessments for various sized accounts, reporting information and opinions regarding risks and exposures.
    • Conduct research and data collection to help identify accounts source of risk and potential loss
    • Utilize expertise to adequately evaluate risk operations, exposures and controls
    • Make decisions independently following established guidelines and procedures, requiring minimal management overview
    • Contact other departments, agencies, policyholders and regulatory organization
    • Communication includes persuasion and negotiation, involving creation and delivery of varying messages and information types
    • Build credibility with internal and external customers




    • 1-3 years of multi-line commercial loss control experience preferred
    • Working toward CSP, ARM, CRM or CPCU certification
    • Bachelor degree or equivalent related experience in insurance or occupational health and safety
    • Working knowledge of industry process and hazards and application of controls
    • Basic understand and application of DOT, NFPA, OSHA, MSHA, CPSC, ACGIH standards and ergonomics
    • Strong negotiation and relationship building skills
    • Intermediate Word/Excel skills
