Western National is seeking an experienced Vice President - Commercial Lines to join our Seattle office. This position will manage all aspects of the commercial lines underwriting unit through profitable growth and staff development. As a leader and influencer across the organization this position will maintain and develop professional relationships with partner agents, vendors and other industry professionals.

 

Responsibilities

Job Duties/Responsibilities

 

  • Plan, organize, and direct the commercial property & casualty underwriting operations in Seattle
  • Manage workforce and provide guidance and oversight to managers and underwriters to support strong multi-line expertise, judgment and deal orientation
  • Select, coach, develop and mentor direct and indirect reports
  • Develop and execute segment strategy to achieve profit, quality, growth, multi-line diversification and operational objectives
  • Responsible for setting department goals and objectives consistent with overall corporate goals
  • Actively seek opportunities to promote company’s products and services
  • Interprets and executes policies and guidelines
  • Applies knowledge to help solve problems of multifaceted scope and complexity
  • Identifies and analyzes patterns from partial and/or conflicting data, identify and implement appropriate solutions

Qualifications

 

 

 

Job Requirements and Qualifications

 

  • Education
    • BS/BA degree required in business administration, finance or marketing
    • Master’s degree or CPCU designation preferred
  • Critical Skills
    • Passionate about and experienced in building, maintaining and growing a positive, engaged office culture
    • Strong negotiations skills using sound judgement and initiative
    • Decisive, but open-minded
    • Proven track record of working together with key business leaders to get things done

  • Technical Skills
    • Intermediate/Advanced Word/Excel/PowerPoint
    • Basic/Intermediate knowledge of CSC PointIn system or similar policy administration system
    • ImageRight or similar file imaging work platform
