Western National is looking for a Director for our Workers Compensation Claims Department. This role will guide a team of 15+ associates while also managing relationships with third party providers, vendors and agency partners. This role will participate in all the shared services strategy for the organization.

  • Oversight of multi-state WC department of 15 associates, including managers.
  • Manage relationship with third party providers and external defense counsel.
  • Prepare budgets and monitor expenditures including cost containment strategies.
  • Stay current with trends and innovations in the field of workers’ compensation administration including legislative and regulatory issues.
  • Respond to agency inquiries and service needs.
  • Develop staffing plans including the selection, development, coaching and retention of staff.
  • Provide file strategy and oversight of high profile files.
  • Report and respond to reinsurance inquiries.


  • 10+ years of experience with Workers Compensation claim handling experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in Supervisory role.
  • Experience working with Workers Compensation claims in multiple states is preferred.
  • Experience working with TPA’s.
  • Ability to travel.
  • 4 year degree in business or other related field of study or equivalent experience in lieu of degree acceptable.
  • CPCU or like industry certification strongly preferred.
