This role is critical to ensuring that the needs of the business are represented in an actionable way when developing, implementing, or refining the company’s use of technology.

  • Participate in the development of processes for improving or further leveraging existing systems, partnering with business unit representatives, technology resources and customer experience colleagues to design impactful customer journeys.
  • Collaborate with other team members to define the business requirements to meet the end users’ needs, with proven ability to conduct one-on-one, small and large group interviews on technology and system concepts.
  • Elicit business requirements and align IT and business partners in understanding the technology solution, bridging the gaps between stakeholders, business sponsors, and technical resources.
  • Assist in the development of business cases for approval and resourcing of customer journey innovations.
  • Translate customer and business innovations into documented, detailed technical requirements for impacted technology teams, leveraging key findings from current state analysis and utilizing best practice tools and techniques to redesign customer journeys.
  • Partner in defining system integration and user-acceptance test plans, and subsequent evaluation of results.
  • Assist with the analysis of bug fixes/ issues, with ability to lead small groups of IT and business employees for troubleshooting, problem resolution and brainstorming initiatives through analysis of available solutions.
  • Contribute to the development of an overall implementation plan with ability to conduct strategic planning leveraging research and analysis of the business and functional needs.
  • Partner with the business areas in the creation of process workflow documentation and user manuals.
  • Execute external client communication including various written communications, one-on-one client conversations, large group presentations, and assist with orientation and training to end users for modified and new systems.
  • Create and analyze reporting needs by business area.
  • Represent and support a business unit, acting as the business relationship liaison between the business unit and IT for IT work requests, working closely with sponsors and front-line mangers and acting as the main contact for specific work requests.
  • Help manage small projects and initiatives supporting a business unit.


  • 5+ years of experience in gathering requirements, testing, and supporting computer systems.
  • IIBA CBAP certification desired.
  • Previous experience with insurance industry billing and invoicing tools preferred; administrative or configuration experience a plus.
  • Some knowledge of databases or willingness to develop skills; SQL.
  • Experience with formal project management practices, problem management, change control and strategic project planning.
  • Proficient experience working with Microsoft Office 365 preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience of software development and QA testing; knowledge of software development lifecycles and methodologies including DevOps or agile delivery models, Scrum methodology.
  • Moderate experience with Confluence and JIRA preferred.
  • Must have strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Understands how to influence change without direct control within a decentralized business unit culture.
  • Strong ability to work independently or with little direction.
  • Proven ability to think critically and effectively communicate with customers and stakeholders (internal and external), the technology teams, and multiple business units, leveraging a keen understanding of multiple leadership, communication, and thinking styles.
  • Past experience working with small teams that have high visibility on a project.
  • Previous experience in the Insurance Industry, or understanding of Insurance or Insurance Administration Systems is helpful and preferred.
  • Good organizational and prioritization skills; able to multi-task, proficient ability to organize and prioritize work and handle multiple projects and manage conflicting priorities.
  • In-depth knowledge of business department operations and processes.
  • Advanced experience interviewing business sponsors and other stakeholders to gather and document requirements as stories into functional/non-functional specifications to include: objectives for project; business and functional requirements, page/process flows, success metrics and use cases.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related field preferred; or equivalent work experience.
